An Rinn im Radio Down-Under!
Der Zufall wollte es, dass Chris Mooney, Mitglied der „Irish Language Association of Australia“ beim Besuch der Website seines Heimatortes „An Rinn“, Co. Waterford, auf unserer Internetseite vorbeischaute. Nach einem intensiven Infformationsaustausch („Wer seid Ihr ?)“ haben Chris und Martin CD’s getauscht: Chris schickte aus Melbourne Mossie Scanlon’s CD „T’eanam ort !“ mit bestem sean-nós-Gesang, Martin die An Rinn-10-Jahres-CD „Smugglers“. Ohne viele weitere Worte hier seine Plattenkritik:
“Got CD today’s post and ist a bloody ripper ! Thats Australian for ist’ great ! I’ve already played it through several times but can’t decide which track I like best. I think both Brian and yourself are damn fine singers.You have a real sincerity in your voice and a slight edge to it that suitsthe songs you do. It enables you to avoid being too sweet, a mistake manynon-Sctos or Irish make when interpreting those Scottish and Irish songs.They imagine that if the subject matter is sad or lonely then the voice mustbe sugary soft and sweet. I feel that you ‚throw the head back and let itout’ emotionally, like an Irishman. The Irish (and Scots too I think) don’tjust moan or pine away demurely when things have got tough, they think, well by Jesus, if that’s the way it is I can be tougher still. Brian McSheffrey must be a Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem fan from way back. It’s been ages since I’ve heard anyone do ‚Brennan on the Moor’ and ‚Roddy McCorley’ and he does a fine rebel-rousing version that would approve of I’m sure….“
Damit aber nicht genug: Chris Mooney hat gute Verbindungen zu den örtlichen Radiostationen, und so kommt es, dass man An Rinn jetzt auch in Australien im Radio hören kann !
